The Leisurelys programme offers safe, enjoyable exercise for the young at heart

The Leisurelys is a social, engaging programme targeted at increasing the activity of seniors in our community. With qualified instructors, you will be given safe and effective exercises to help improve activities in everyday life. The strength class focuses on strengthening all major muscle groups whilst moving to music in time with the instructor.

What to expect:

In-depth induction: before joining any group classes you will need to have an induction with one of our qualified instructors. During this session you will go through your health history, goals and a few simple assessments to see how you move. Our instructors will then recommend which classes will be suitable and effective for you.

Strength training: exercises will target all major muscle groups, and you may use body weight or free weights to increase difficulty. As you progress, increase the weights so that your body is constantly challenged.

Cool down: at the end of the class, we will go through a cool down to stretch the muscles we have just worked.

Who can join:

This class is suitable for over 65s who have a base level of fitness and mobility. Our instructors will adjust exercises as needed to suit all individuals. You will be required to move up and down from a lying position independently and should have relatively good balance to do this class.

What to bring and wear:

Come along in comfortable clothing and bring along a water bottle and a small gym towel.
