Improve your balance, confidence and strength for activities of daily living in this 30min circuit class, using a variety of different exercises and equipment. Members are required to have an induction before joining
The Leisurelys is a social, engaging programme targeted at increasing the activity of seniors in our community. With qualified instructors, you will be given safe and effective exercises to help improve activities in everyday life. The balance class incorporates balance and strengthening activities in a circuit-style format, utilising different equipment and props
In-depth induction: before joining any group classes you will need to have an induction with one of our qualified instructors. During this session you will go through your health history, goals and a few simple assessments to see how you move. Our instructors will then recommend which classes will be suitable and effective for you.
Strength training: exercises in this class will target mainly the lower limb muscles which are important for falls prevention. We tailor the exercises towards activities of daily living such as going up and down stairs and sitting and standing from a chair.
Balance exercises: these exercises will challenge your balance in a variety of different ways from standing on different surfaces, standing on one leg, coordinating different movements or walking in different directions. Your confidence will improve to reduce your risk of falling.
Cool down: at the end of the class, we will go through a cool down to stretch the muscles we have just worked.
This class is suitable for over 65s of all abilities. Our instructors will adjust exercises as needed to suit all individuals. If you are at risk of falling or have mobility aids we recommend coming with a support person.
Come along in comfortable clothing and bring along a water bottle. You may do the class with your shoes on or off depending on personal preference.
