This extraordinarily beautiful class is unique in that it is Only for Parkinson's people and their caregivers. It has been running for 7 years in Hamilton in Venue with PD persons also attending online Via Zoom.
Led by Belinda Goodwin, a certified Parkinson's Dance teacher and a Black belt in the Nia Technique, you will be accompanied by a lovely group of PD persons who enjoy the social aspects this class has to offer, just as much as the specifically designed movement and music.
What to expect
The choreographed movement sequences steadily and surely re-calibrate the motor-skills part of the brain that is typically affected by Parkinson's.
Dancers discover themselves as they are encouraged to participate in their body way.
We dance seated and standing and all dancers are taken great care of by our volunteer persons, by Belinda or by your caregiver.
Wheelchairs and walkers can easily access this building with a side door entry and easy off-street free parking. We currently use St John’s Medical service from Cambridge and Hamilton to bring Dancers to this class as it is recognised as a weekly appointment bringing health and wellness to PD persons.
See Belinda's Nia Dance Flag to show the entry to the parking area.

What to bring and wear
Wear clothes you are comfortable moving in. No equipment or mats needed. Bare foot is great if that feels ok, otherwise grippy socks or comfy flat shoes.
There, opposite knee to the toes (instrumental music), and now round wheel arm, take it over, (instrumental music), here comes our arms out, palm up, full rotation of your palm, and take it over (instrumental music), good, brush on the spot with my fingers, and now full rotation, the elbows, the shoulders and I reach all the way up
